At School on Wheels HUHT this May, four AquaTerra volunteers kicked off the first day of Speak to Shine, working with 30 children on finding their voice in front of a group. Between exercises and encouragement, shy hands slowly turned into raised ones.
Public speaking can feel intimidating at any age, and the volunteers kept things light, using games and prompts rather than lectures. By the end of the session, the children at HUHT had a few more tools, and a little more nerve, to speak up and be heard.
