Seven AquaTerra volunteers visited the Urban Shelter for the Homeless this April, spending the afternoon with 20 elderly residents as part of the ongoing Respect and Reach initiative. Conversations flowed easily, and the time passed in shared stories rather than scheduled activities.
It's a simple kind of visit, just sitting, listening, and being present, but one that means a great deal to residents who don't always get company. The volunteers left the shelter having given something that doesn't show up in numbers: attention and respect for elders too often overlooked.
