Two volunteers ran Pastel Play at Pather Sathi in January 2023, introducing forty-five children to shapes, colour blending, and open-ended drawing with pastels. It was a big group for a small team, but the structure of the activity kept things manageable.
Kids leaned into the freedom the medium offered, mixing colours and inventing shapes without much guidance needed. The session wrapped with a wall of pastel drawings, each one a little different from the last.
