Five volunteers kicked off the first edition of Toy and Thread on Hemchandra Naskar Road, collecting 7 bags of clothes and toys for families who needed them. As the opening round of a new drive, it set the pace for what was to follow.
The team went stall to stall and door to door, gathering donations while explaining the drive to residents along the way. Toys included alongside clothes gave the collection a different feel from the usual — a reminder that relief drives can carry a bit of joy too, not just necessity.
Seven bags may sound modest, but it was enough to start something that would grow with each following round.
