Six volunteers took the eleventh Sharbat Seva drive to Manicktolla and Kankurgachi in late May, serving up chilled Rooh Afza in a few different flavours to keep things interesting for the crowd. It was another hot day, and the response from locals made that clear.
By the end of the shift, the team had handed out 20 litres of sharbat to residents grateful for a cold drink. Simple as it is, the drive has become a reliable bit of relief during Kolkata's harshest summer stretches.
