Bat Basics took five AquaTerra volunteers to Kolkata this April for a cricket workshop built around the fundamentals, holding the bat right, timing a shot, fielding without fear. 45 children took part, many of them getting proper coaching on the basics for the first time.
The energy was hard to miss, kids lining up for their turn to bat, cheering each other on between drills. It was less a lesson than a full afternoon of sport, which is exactly what made it work.
