" Good morning folks! This is flight American Airlines 3133, from O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, and we have now landed at Boston Logan International Airport! " This is a sentence I love to hear. It doesn't matter to me what the first city is, the one where we're arriving from. But the final destination (this was intentional)? I hope it stays the same forever. Boston, Massachusetts is better than New York City to me (please don't fight me on this), and the bond I have with that city is something nobody can break. The purpose of the next part of this post is to tell you stories from the times I've visited this city, and hopefully, by the end of it, you'll love it as much as I do.
First up, we have a short anecdote from 2023. A 15-hour flight already had me begging for a blanket, but we checked into our hotel first. The room was an absolute shocker. Two bottles of water, at $5 each. Who pays that much for water? The answer is not me. Literally 2 minutes after I finished staring at the price tags attached to the bottles, there was a knock on the door. It was housekeeping. Now at 12, yes, I was really mean but I was also really nice to people I'd never met. So of course, my natural instinct was to smile and ask the lady who was here for housekeeping, for some free water. I didn't realise it at the time, but I see it now; she risked her job giving me a few bottles of water, except it was every single day, for a whole month. I don't know whether she paid for them herself, or whether she was fired for it, or if they ever even found out, but I hope she was rewarded for her kindness. Giving a
12-year-old, free bottles of water for a month isn't something I would have done if it meant losing my source of income when I need it most, but guess what? She did, and it's been 2 years, but I will forever be thankful to her for doing that for me.
Next, we have the first cafe breakfast. For reference, I just wanted that Pinterest experience. You know, dressing up, wearing a cardigan and boots, out in 13-degree weather, and eating breakfast at a cafe? Yeah, that. Saying that it backfired and went wrong in every way possible is an understatement. I woke up at 9:30 am instead of 7 am, still haven't forgiven my older brother for turning my alarms off. What Pinterest girl eats breakfast at 10 am? Anyway, I moved on and once I did get to the closest cafe, I got a table…
